The Louvre Pyramid is a large glass pyramid
commissioned by then French president
François Mitterrand, designed by Chinese
architect, I. M. Pei and constructed in the
central courtyard. It was opened in 1989. The
pyramid covers the Louvre entresol and forms part
of the modern entrance to the museum.
