The Hahnenkamm is a mountain rising to 1712
metres (5616 ft) above sea level and forms part
of the ski resort of Kitzbühel The most
famous slope on the Hahnenkamm is the Streif,
regarded as the most demanding racing slope in
the Alpine Skiing World Cup.
The Hahnenkammrennen is an annual race held since
1931 and has been part of the men's alpine skiing
World Cup since its inception in 1967. The 67th
Hahnenkamm race was held on January 26-28,
2007.
Traditionally, the winner of the Hahnenkamm race
was determined by the combined results of the
downhill and slalom competitions; today, the man
most likely to be referred to as Hahnenkammsieger
(champion) is the winner of the downhill.
